TITLE: "Prairie Lessons"

This little one-room schoolhouse is very isolated, and served many farming families near the Montana-Canadian border until the late 1970's. After that, it was left abandoned and has been quietly weathering the years, surrounded by wide open spaces of wheat fields. These old buildings are hand-built and simple, but are charming and crafted with quality. Children that lived in the nearby counties all gathered in the schoolhouse for their lessons, all learning together at different ages. I love the simplicity and humanity in that idea, where all families lived and worked together to raise the children in their community.

About the Photographer:

Annie travels for her photography full-time, photographing wildlife, landscapes, and rural scenes. She grew up on her family's ranch in Montana, and currently works out of her studio in Billings, Montana. Her work has been featured in television shows, books, and in magazines such as Better Homes & Gardens. She has worked with Crate & Barrel, Target, and several large-scale projects across the United States. While she loves to travel, her true love is being in wide open spaces or out in nature.
